who is doing mining courses or degrees at UQ?
i am currently looking at quiting my job and go back to uni. i am an engineer (non-mining) but the mining jobs are too appearling.
i would be looking at doing a masters in mining, not sure if i can get in the programme though.

Is it worth doing? let me know what you think?

What salary are you looking at?
FIFO 8 working days plus 6 days holiday.
In working day you are expected to work 12 hours per day.
Accommodation and meals are totally free in field.
Total package around 100,000 for fresh bachelor graduate from UQ (current market, not sure for master though. will it be overqualified?)

到矿区不一定要学mining吧，学建筑或者电工，机械，化学都有机会去矿区工作，只要你有一定工作经验。我想还是先拿澳洲工作经验比返回学校保险点。

it appears to me that mining is slowing down too??? market is not looking that great.

i am interested in mining because a few mates of mine are doing mining related work and their benefits are really great....good salary, engineering consulting, less stress, compared to what i am doing.
i do mostly building related engineering projects, and the market is tough, redundancies every few months etc etc, that's why i am seeking alternatives..

建筑和矿业 要换行起码要2到3年学习吧，每年你要损失8万工资，2万学费，3年就损失30万澳币，而且之前7年的工作经验有可能一笔勾销。我有个朋友学的建筑专业，一年澳洲工作经验， 现在跳到西澳矿场，flyin flyout, 好像起薪在12万以上， 我的意思是说去mining site 的人不一定都是mining 专业。具体工作职位要求，你可以去咨询一下agent，好多mining工作好像都在他们手里。让他们给你推荐一下不是更好？另外你朋友其实可以帮你介绍一下。多问问行内人吧。
